Norwegian offshore vessel owner Eidesvik Offshore has secured a new four-year frame agreement with energy company Aker BP for the provision of platform supply vessel (PSV) services. The agreement includes provisions for two further extensions, each lasting two years, potentially extending the contract significantly. This deal ensures continued long-term employment for Eidesvik's vessel, the Viking Prince.
This new contract builds upon an existing partnership between Eidesvik and Aker BP, demonstrating a continued collaboration in the offshore support sector. The frame agreement structure provides Aker BP with flexibility in its PSV requirements while offering Eidesvik a stable revenue stream for a significant period.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals involved in the oil and gas sector, this type of long-term contract signals stability in the offshore support vessel market. While not directly impacting container or air cargo rates, it reflects ongoing activity in energy exploration and production, which can indirectly influence demand for project cargo and specialized logistics services to support offshore operations. The consistent deployment of a PSV like the Viking Prince ensures reliable supply chain support for Aker BP's platforms, which is crucial for maintaining operational efficiency and avoiding delays in critical offshore projects.
