Challenge Group has announced a significant expansion of its air freight operations between Europe and Asia. The company is launching a new direct freighter service from Liège (Belgium) to Shanghai (China). In parallel, its established route between Liège and Mumbai (India) will see a capacity upgrade. From July 2, this service will shift from three weekly Boeing 767 flights to two weekly Boeing 777-300ERSF flights, providing increased cargo space for customers.
This strategic move aims to strengthen supply chain connectivity between the European and Asian markets. For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development means enhanced air cargo options and potentially improved transit times for shipments between key industrial and commercial hubs in Europe, India, and China. The introduction of larger aircraft on the Mumbai route will offer greater capacity, which could alleviate some pressure on space and potentially stabilize rates for that specific lane. The new Shanghai service provides a direct alternative for air cargo, diversifying routing options and potentially improving lead times for urgent shipments to and from Eastern China.
