Baltic Ground Services (BGS) has initiated a new partnership with Arkia Israeli Airlines, offering comprehensive ground handling and into-plane fuelling services at Vilnius Airport (VNO). This agreement supports Arkia's launch of a new seasonal air service connecting Vilnius with Tel Aviv, operating three times per week during the summer season. This marks Arkia's first venture into the Lithuanian aviation market.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this development signifies a slight increase in air cargo capacity and connectivity between Lithuania and Israel, particularly for belly cargo on passenger flights. While the primary focus is passenger transport, the new route could offer additional options for urgent or high-value shipments, potentially impacting transit times and available space on this specific lane. The introduction of a new carrier also suggests growing demand, which might lead to further service expansions or increased competition in the future.
