Qatar Airways Cargo has announced a significant 12% increase in its total cargo capacity. This expansion is attributed to a dual strategy: the launch of new freighter destinations and the enhanced bellyhold availability resulting from an increase in passenger flight frequencies.
Specifically, the carrier has reinstated its Boeing 777 freighter service to Vienna, Austria, providing dedicated cargo uplift to the European market. Additionally, a second Boeing 777 freighter has been added to its operations serving Warsaw, Poland, further strengthening its presence in Central Europe.
For freight forwarders and shippers, this capacity injection means more options for air cargo movements to and from Europe. The reintroduction of the Vienna freighter service and the additional Warsaw frequency could lead to improved transit times and potentially more competitive rates on these lanes, offering greater flexibility for urgent or time-sensitive shipments. Forwarders should monitor these routes for new booking opportunities and potential shifts in market dynamics.
