FedEx has announced a €46 million investment to expand its European road hub located in Duiven, Netherlands. This significant expansion project is designed to increase the facility's capacity for handling palletized freight by more than 50% and will add 65 new dock doors. The improvements aim to enhance operational efficiency and solidify the hub's position as a crucial logistics gateway within Europe.
This investment comes as FedEx seeks to support the growing demand in the premium international parcel and freight market. The Duiven facility is a key component of FedEx's European network, facilitating the movement of goods across the continent.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this expansion signals improved capacity and potentially faster transit times for road freight services through the Netherlands. The increased number of dock doors should reduce truck turnaround times, leading to more efficient cargo flow. This could be particularly beneficial for shipments requiring expedited handling within Europe, offering more reliable service for premium and time-sensitive freight.
