Brazilian terminal operator Super Terminais has officially commenced operations at its new Porto Verde floating grain terminal. Located in Itacoatiara, the facility handled its first shipment on October 11, consisting of 27,000 tonnes of maize bound for Morocco.
This new floating terminal is expected to significantly boost the export capacity for agricultural products from the region, particularly for grains. It represents an investment in infrastructure aimed at streamlining the logistics chain for bulk commodities.
For freight forwarders and shippers, the activation of the Porto Verde terminal introduces an additional, potentially more efficient, export gateway for Brazilian agricultural goods. This could lead to improved transit times and competitive pricing for shipments originating from the Amazon basin, offering alternative routing options to traditional port hubs. The increased capacity may also alleviate pressure on existing port infrastructure.
Further details on the terminal's long-term operational plans and its full capacity are anticipated as it integrates into the broader logistics network.
