The French transport association OTRE has decided to postpone its scheduled protest actions, which were set for October 21st and 22nd, 2026. This decision comes after the French government officially confirmed its commitment to implement measures designed to support transport companies facing elevated fuel expenses. Starting November 1st, the price of diesel is expected to decrease by as much as 18 cents per liter.
For freight forwarders and logistics operations managers, this development means a temporary stabilization in road freight costs within France. The reduction in diesel prices will directly impact the operational expenses of trucking companies, potentially preventing surcharges or rate increases that might have resulted from continued high fuel costs or widespread protests. This avoids potential disruptions to inland transport schedules and capacity that would have occurred if the protests had proceeded, ensuring smoother movement of goods through France.
