On October 1st, all domestic iron ore price bases in China, including the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) and the three port spot indices, ceased operations due to the National Day holiday. As a result, the values presented in the report for these segments are carried over from September 30th and are explicitly marked as such. The only active trading observed was within the international market.
For freight forwarders and supply chain analysts involved in iron ore logistics, this closure signifies a temporary halt in new domestic pricing signals from China. While international markets may continue to trade, the absence of fresh yuan spot and port index data means that short-term pricing and market sentiment for Chinese domestic iron ore will not be updated. This could lead to a brief period of uncertainty regarding immediate market direction upon reopening, potentially impacting procurement and shipping decisions that rely on real-time Chinese market indicators.
