The Danish parliament has approved an emergency plan for the national electricity grid, which includes a provision granting the transport sector priority access to electricity capacity. This decision, backed by a wide political consensus, aims to facilitate the ongoing electrification of heavy-duty vehicles within the country.
The Danish transport industry organization, DTL – Danske Vognmænd, has expressed strong approval for this development. They highlight the positive impact of explicitly recognizing transport as a priority category in the grid allocation strategy.
For freight forwarders and logistics operators in Denmark, this prioritization means greater certainty regarding the infrastructure required for transitioning their truck fleets to electric power. It mitigates potential bottlenecks in charging infrastructure development due to grid capacity limitations, which could otherwise delay electrification efforts and increase operational costs. This move supports long-term planning for sustainable road transport and could influence investment decisions in electric truck fleets and charging depots.
