FIATA has launched its inaugural User Handbook on Multimodal Transport Corridors, a resource specifically designed to assist freight forwarders in evaluating, planning, and managing cargo operations across various multimodal routes. The first edition of this handbook provides detailed insights into the Middle Corridor, also known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). This corridor is a significant trade artery that links Asia with Europe, traversing Central Asia, crossing the Caspian Sea, passing through the South Caucasus region, and continuing into Turkey.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this handbook offers practical tools to navigate the complexities of multimodal logistics. It provides a structured approach to understanding the operational nuances of the Middle Corridor, which can be particularly useful for optimizing transit times, managing costs, and mitigating risks associated with cross-continental shipments. The guide moves beyond mere infrastructure details, focusing on actionable strategies for cargo flow. This can help forwarders identify new routing opportunities, especially in light of disruptions on traditional East-West trade lanes, potentially impacting transit times and overall supply chain resilience.
