APM Terminals Maasvlakte II, located in the Port of Rotterdam, has taken delivery of four new remotely operated ship-to-shore (STS) cranes. These cranes are part of a total order for 12 units, with the first batch having arrived in March 2026. The continuous expansion of crane infrastructure aims to boost the terminal's capacity and efficiency.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signifies an increase in handling capacity at a major European hub. Enhanced crane availability and remote operation capabilities can lead to faster vessel turnaround times and improved schedule reliability at Maasvlakte II. This could potentially alleviate port congestion and optimize cargo flow for shipments moving through Rotterdam, a critical gateway for European trade.
