Commodity trader Alkagesta has announced the successful completion of its first truck-to-ship (TTS) bunkering operation at the Romanian port of Constanța. The operation involved two trucks supplying a total of 50.164 metric tonnes of marine gasoil (MGO) to an undisclosed vessel. This new service expands Alkagesta's distribution capabilities in Romania, a market that has become increasingly significant for the company's regional activities in petroleum products and biofuels throughout 2026.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signifies an additional, potentially more flexible, option for vessel refueling at Constanța. Truck-to-ship bunkering can offer advantages in certain scenarios, such as when a vessel's schedule does not permit a dedicated bunker call or when specific fuel grades are required quickly. This could contribute to improved vessel turnaround times and operational efficiency in the port, potentially impacting schedule reliability for services calling at Constanța.
