A new bulk storage and handling facility has officially commenced operations at Berth 43 within the Port of Tilbury. This state-of-the-art agri-hub, managed by Cefetra, boasts a substantial capacity of up to 65,000 tonnes and is specifically engineered to facilitate direct discharge from vessels. This setup streamlines the process of importing agricultural commodities, reducing handling times and improving overall logistical efficiency.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this new facility at Tilbury signifies enhanced capacity and potentially faster turnaround times for bulk agricultural shipments into the UK. The direct vessel discharge capability means less reliance on intermediate storage or transfer methods, which can lead to cost savings and improved supply chain predictability for clients dealing with these commodities. It also reinforces Tilbury's position as a key entry point for bulk goods.
This investment in port infrastructure is expected to support the growing demand for efficient agricultural supply chains in the region.
