Starting October 5th, ECT (Europe Container Terminals) will launch a Truck Capacity Management System (TCMS) at its ECT Delta and ECT Euromax terminals, both located in the Maasvlakte area of Rotterdam. The primary goal of this initiative is to mitigate persistent peak congestion and minimize extensive waiting times for trucks accessing the terminals. Under the new system, all trucks will be assigned a specific time slot for their terminal visits.
For freight forwarders and logistics operators, this change means stricter adherence to scheduled pickup and delivery times at these key Rotterdam terminals. The introduction of a mandatory time slot system aims to improve predictability and efficiency, potentially reducing overall turnaround times if managed effectively. However, any deviation from the assigned slot, such as early arrival or missing the window, will incur a €100 surcharge, adding a financial penalty for operational delays or misplanning. Forwarders will need to ensure their trucking partners are fully aware of and compliant with these new regulations to avoid additional costs and maintain smooth operations.
