The Fratelli Neri Group and Nova Marine Carriers have finalized the acquisition of a majority stake in Terminal Calata Orlando (TCO) in Leghorn, Italy. This strategic move was executed through NR Investimenti, a newly formed holding company equally owned by both groups. The remaining shares of TCO will continue to be held by the family of Roberto. This development marks a significant consolidation within the port operations landscape in Leghorn.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this change in terminal ownership could lead to several impacts. Integrated control by these two prominent maritime groups may result in more streamlined terminal operations, potentially improving vessel turnaround times and cargo handling efficiency. Forwarders might experience enhanced service levels or, conversely, face adjustments in existing operational procedures and pricing structures as the new management integrates its strategies. It could also influence capacity availability and port call scheduling for carriers utilizing TCO.
