Milence, a joint venture focused on electric truck charging infrastructure, recently demonstrated its Megawatt Charging System (MCS) at the IAA Transportation 2026 event in Hannover. The demonstration, conducted in partnership with major truck manufacturers Daimler Truck, MAN Truck & Bus, and Scania, highlighted the system's capability to deliver up to 1,000 kW of charging power. This high-capacity charging allows electric truck batteries to reach an 80% charge, or even full capacity, within the standard 30 to 45-minute driver rest periods.
For freight forwarders and logistics operations managers, this development signifies a crucial step towards the broader adoption of electric trucks in long-haul transport. The ability to quickly recharge during mandatory breaks addresses a key concern regarding range anxiety and operational downtime for electric vehicles. This could lead to more predictable scheduling and potentially faster turnaround times for electric road freight, making it a more viable alternative to diesel trucks. As charging infrastructure expands and becomes more efficient, forwarders can expect increased capacity and potentially more competitive rates for electric road transport services, particularly on routes where MCS stations are deployed.
