HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Engine & Machinery Business Unit (HHI-EMD) recently announced the successful completion of the Type Approval Test (TAT) for its advanced H35CDF LNG dual-fuel engine. The testing, conducted from September 21-23, involved representatives from seven prominent classification societies, including Korean Register (KR), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Bureau Veritas (BV), DNV, ClassNK, Lloyd’s Register, and RINA.
The H35CDF engine represents a new generation of marine propulsion, building upon HHI-EMD's second-generation HiMSEN CLEAN Engine Platform. It integrates existing technologies and operational insights from the H35DF LNG dual-fuel engine, aiming for enhanced performance and environmental compliance.
For freight forwarders and shippers, the development of more efficient and environmentally friendly LNG dual-fuel engines like the H35CDF indicates a continued industry shift towards decarbonization.
