Swedish timber producer Fiskarheden has inaugurated a new dedicated rail freight connection for shipping sawn wood to the Port of Gothenburg. The first train departed from Malungsfors with 44 forty-foot containers, marking a significant shift in the company's logistics strategy. From Gothenburg, the timber will be exported via sea to customers in Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa.
This new intermodal link aims to streamline the supply chain for Fiskarheden, providing a more efficient and potentially more sustainable method for transporting large volumes of timber to a major export hub.
