Grimaldi Group recently accepted delivery of the Grande Egitto, a pure car and truck carrier (PCTC). This vessel is the fourteenth in the company's fleet to be designated as "ammonia-ready," indicating its capability for future conversion to operate on ammonia as a zero-carbon fuel. Measuring 220 meters in length and with a gross tonnage of 95,534, the Grande Egitto, along with its sister ship Grande Pacifico, represents the largest PCTCs within the Grimaldi fleet, each capable of carrying 9,800 car equivalent units (CEU).
This delivery underscores Grimaldi's commitment to sustainable shipping practices. The Italian Shipping Register (RINA) awarded the vessel its "Ammonia Ready" class notation, confirming its design allows for a transition to ammonia propulsion. This certification is a significant step towards reducing the environmental impact of maritime operations.
