Hong Kong Air Cargo Industry Services (Hacis), a logistics subsidiary of Hactl, has initiated a new road transportation service extending into Vietnam. This development is part of the ongoing expansion of its SuperLink China Direct network, which is designed to enhance the cargo reach of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).
The new service is expected to generate additional cargo volumes for HKIA by providing Vietnamese enterprises and international shippers with improved access to Hong Kong's air cargo hub. For freight forwarders, this means new options for multimodal routing, potentially offering more efficient and cost-effective ways to move goods between Vietnam and global destinations via Hong Kong. It could also alleviate pressure on direct air cargo capacity from Vietnam, providing an alternative for certain types of shipments. Forwarders should monitor transit times and customs procedures for this new cross-border road-air solution.
This strategic move by Hacis aims to strengthen Hong Kong's position as a regional air cargo gateway by integrating neighboring markets more closely into its logistics network.
