CMA CGM, Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV), and the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) have signed a Joint Development Project (JDP) agreement. This partnership, announced during SMM, focuses on developing and assessing the technical and operational feasibility of an assisted container vessel concept. The initiative aims to integrate advanced technologies to improve the operational capabilities and safety aspects of container ships.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signals a potential future for more efficient and potentially safer container shipping. While not an immediate change, such innovations could eventually lead to improved schedule reliability and reduced operational risks, which are critical factors in supply chain planning and execution.
