TGP recently completed the intricate logistics of moving a 24-tonne wellhead and 15-meter drilling components for an offshore energy project situated in Azerbaijan. The cargo originated in Batam, Indonesia, and was first transported to Singapore before being airfreighted to Baku. This operation required specialized airworthy crating to ensure the safe transit of the oversized and heavy equipment.
The project necessitated a highly coordinated multimodal transport plan, integrating road, ferry, and air legs to deliver the critical components to the drilling site. Such specialized movements are common in the energy sector, where project timelines are tight and equipment is often large and heavy.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this highlights the complexities and specialized requirements of project cargo, particularly when involving airfreight for heavy-lift items. It underscores the need for expertise in crating, route planning, and coordinating multiple transport modes across international borders. The successful execution of such a move demonstrates robust project logistics capabilities, which can be crucial for clients with urgent or challenging cargo requirements.
