EcoMethanol, in collaboration with Taebaek City, Hyundai Corporation, Wallenius Wilhelmsen, and EUKOR Car Carriers, has formalized an agreement via a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate the supply of green methanol. This initiative is focused on establishing a robust supply chain for sustainable maritime fuel within South Korea.
The partnership brings together a diverse group of stakeholders, including a green fuel producer, a local government, a major corporation, and two prominent shipping lines specializing in roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) and car carrier services. The collective effort aims to accelerate the adoption of alternative fuels in the shipping sector.
For freight forwarders and shippers, this development signals a growing commitment to decarbonization by major carriers. Increased availability of green methanol in key bunkering regions like South Korea could lead to more options for eco-friendly shipping services.
