Kongsberg Maritime has expanded its Rim-Drive Tunnel Thruster product line by introducing two new, larger models: the RD-TT 2300 and RD-TT 2600. These new thrusters feature propeller diameters of 2.3 and 2.6 meters, respectively, and are engineered to deliver greater thrust and superior dynamic positioning (DP) capabilities. The expansion aims to meet the growing demand for more powerful and efficient propulsion solutions in the maritime industry, particularly for vessels that require precise maneuverability in challenging operational environments.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signifies potential improvements in vessel efficiency and reliability. Ships equipped with these advanced thrusters may experience better schedule adherence due to enhanced maneuverability, especially in congested ports or during complex docking procedures. This can lead to reduced transit times and fewer delays, ultimately benefiting supply chain predictability and potentially lowering operational costs associated with waiting times or re-routing.
