Jan De Nul has officially entered the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) market by securing a significant contract for rock installation services. This project involves protecting a pipeline being constructed by Saipem in the North Sea. The pipeline is a crucial component of the Northern Endurance Partnership's infrastructure, designed to facilitate the transport of captured carbon dioxide.
The primary goal of this infrastructure is to move CO₂ from industrial sites in Teesside to permanent offshore storage locations. Operations are projected to commence in 2028, with an ambitious target of storing 4 million tonnes of CO₂ annually. Jan De Nul's role in providing rock installation will ensure the subsea pipeline's stability and protection against environmental factors and potential damage.
