EcoStone Solutions, a new specialist marine service company, has officially launched to provide independent aftersales support for environmental technologies installed on ships. Headquartered in Genoa, Italy, and established in April 2026, the company focuses on assisting shipowners and technical managers.
The service covers a wide array of shipboard environmental and process technologies, offering critical support functions such as diagnostics, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and the supply of spare parts. A key aspect of EcoStone's offering is its manufacturer-independent approach, meaning it can service systems from various original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
For freight forwarders and their clients, this development could lead to more efficient vessel operations and reduced downtime for ships equipped with these environmental systems. Reliable maintenance and prompt access to spare parts, irrespective of the system's brand, can enhance vessel uptime and schedule reliability, which directly impacts the predictability of cargo movements. This could also potentially offer more competitive service options compared to OEM-tied support, contributing to better cost management for carriers and, indirectly, for shippers.
