Delta Rail, a part of Modal Group, is preparing to inaugurate a new direct rail freight connection between the port city of Dunkirk and Lyon, a major economic hub in southeastern France. The service is scheduled to begin on September 3rd, providing three weekly return journeys. This initiative aims to bolster rail's share in freight transport, offering a more sustainable alternative to road haulage for goods moving between these key regions.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this new service presents a direct and potentially more reliable intermodal option for cargo moving between Northern France and the Rhône-Alpes region. It could help mitigate road congestion and reduce transit times for specific freight types, offering a consistent schedule for planning. The increased frequency of three times a week provides flexibility for shipment scheduling, potentially improving supply chain efficiency for businesses utilizing this corridor.
