Three specialized heavy-lift vessels operated by COSCO Shipping have successfully transported 17 Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes. The cranes were loaded at ZPMC's manufacturing base in Nantong, China, and are destined for TiL's container terminal located in Walvis Bay, Namibia. This significant delivery is expected to bolster the port's operational efficiency and capacity for handling containerized cargo.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, the arrival of these RTGs at Walvis Bay signifies an improvement in port infrastructure, potentially leading to faster vessel turnaround times and reduced congestion. Enhanced equipment capacity can directly translate into more reliable schedules for shipments moving through this key Southern African gateway, benefiting supply chains by minimizing delays and improving overall service levels.
