The International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) has introduced a new Ports Technology Mentorship scheme, designed to facilitate targeted knowledge transfer and skills development among its global membership. The program, which will span one year, is currently accepting applications for six emerging or newly appointed technology leaders from IAPH member ports. These mentees will benefit from direct guidance and expertise provided by six well-established and experienced Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) from leading ports.
This initiative aims to bridge knowledge gaps and accelerate the adoption of advanced technologies within the port sector. By connecting seasoned professionals with rising talents, the IAPH seeks to cultivate a new generation of leaders equipped to navigate the complexities of port digitalization, cybersecurity, and operational technology.
For freight forwarders and supply chain analysts, this program signifies a commitment to improving port operational efficiency and resilience through technology. Enhanced technological capabilities at ports can lead to more streamlined cargo handling, better data exchange, improved security, and ultimately, faster vessel turnaround times and more reliable supply chains. This could translate to reduced delays and more predictable transit times for shipments, benefiting overall logistics planning and execution.
The scheme is expected to run for one year, with the selected participants engaging in structured mentorship activities. The long-term goal is to create a more technologically advanced and interconnected global port community, capable of adapting to future challenges and opportunities.
