Norwegian offshore vessel owner DOF has received a letter of award for a new four-year contract involving an Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessel. The company plans to deploy its 2006-built vessel, the *Skandi Hera*, for this long-term engagement. In addition to the vessel, DOF will also provide Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) services as part of the contract.
The commencement of the contract is anticipated to occur between late 2026 and early 2027. This award is currently contingent on obtaining partner approval, which DOF expects to secure. This new agreement is a substantial addition to DOF's project backlog, providing long-term visibility and stability for the company's offshore operations.
For freight forwarders and supply chain professionals, while this news directly impacts the offshore energy sector, it signals continued investment and activity in specialized maritime services. The long-term nature of the contract suggests stable demand for AHTS vessels, which are crucial for supporting oil and gas exploration, production, and maintenance activities. This could indirectly influence the availability and pricing of other specialized vessels if the offshore market continues to strengthen, potentially affecting project cargo logistics requiring similar vessel types.
