Dutch shipyard Concordia Damen has announced a new contract with TUI River Cruise for the construction of two CDS River Cruise 135 vessels. These ships feature an in-house design by Concordia Damen, specifically tailored to meet the operational requirements of TUI River Cruise.
This order is part of a broader expansion strategy by TUI River Cruise, which aims to significantly increase its operational capacity. The addition of these two new vessels will bring the company's total river cruise fleet from six to ten ships.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this news primarily falls outside direct cargo operations, as it pertains to passenger vessels. However, it indicates continued investment in the European inland waterways sector, which can indirectly influence demand for supporting logistics services, such as provisions and maintenance supplies, that utilize regional freight networks.
