CMA CGM has announced the introduction of its KORA EXPRESS, a new weekly container shipping service. This new offering establishes a direct link between ports in North Europe and several West African countries, specifically targeting Ghana, Nigeria, and Benin. The primary objective of the KORA EXPRESS is to significantly reduce transit times for cargo moving between these regions.
Simultaneously, the launch of KORA EXPRESS facilitates a strategic repositioning of CMA CGM's existing EURAF 5 service. This allows EURAF 5 to focus on strengthening container connections within the southern regional markets of Africa.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this new service means enhanced schedule reliability and potentially more competitive transit times for shipments destined for Ghana, Nigeria, and Benin from North Europe. The direct nature of the service could lead to reduced lead times and improved supply chain efficiency for clients operating on this trade lane. The reallocation of the EURAF 5 service also suggests a more optimized network overall, potentially improving service quality for other African routes.
