Bollinger Shipyards has officially opened a new 7,200-square-foot workforce training center located at its facility in Gulfport, Mississippi. This new center is designed to expand and improve skilled trades training specifically for the U.S. shipbuilding industry. The development of this facility was a collaborative effort, undertaken in partnership with the U.S. government.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this development signals a potential increase in domestic shipbuilding capacity and skilled labor availability. While not directly impacting immediate freight rates or capacity, a stronger U.S. shipbuilding industry could lead to more domestically built vessels in the long term, potentially influencing future fleet compositions and strategic maritime capabilities.
