ABS, a global classification society, has formally joined forces with prominent research organizations from South Korea and the United States. This collaboration is formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at enhancing technical innovation and fostering greater cooperation across the shipbuilding and broader maritime industries. The agreement was signed in conjunction with the inauguration of the Korea-U.S. Shipbuilding Partnership Center (KUSPC).
The KUSPC initiative brings together key players such as the Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO) and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) from Korea, alongside their U.S. counterparts. The primary goal is to pool expertise and resources to develop advanced technologies and methodologies that will shape the future of shipbuilding.
For freight forwarders and supply chain professionals, this collaboration signifies a long-term commitment to improving vessel design, efficiency, and potentially the types of ships available for various cargo operations.
