U.S. cargo carriers Atlas Air and ABX Air have submitted applications to the U.S. government, requesting permission to commence air cargo services to Venezuela. This marks a potential shift in aviation policy, as commercial flights between the U.S. and Venezuela have been largely prohibited for an extended period.
For freight forwarders and shippers, the approval of these requests would signify the reopening of a direct air cargo route to Venezuela. This could lead to increased capacity and potentially more competitive rates for shipments to and from the region, offering new logistical options for businesses engaged in trade with Venezuela. It would also reduce reliance on indirect routing through other countries, streamlining supply chains.
