The RDW, the Netherlands Vehicle Authority, has granted approval to Axxès and tolltickets as additional European Electronic Toll Service (EETS) providers for the country's new truck toll system. This development expands the options for transport companies to manage and pay tolls, which will become mandatory for heavy goods vehicles in the Netherlands from July 1, 2026.
Both Axxès and tolltickets are recognized entities within the European toll collection market, offering services that assist road transport businesses with toll payment and administration across various European countries. Their inclusion aims to provide more choice and potentially streamline operations for carriers operating in or through the Netherlands.
For freight forwarders and logistics operators, the availability of more EETS providers means increased flexibility in selecting a suitable toll solution. This could lead to more competitive pricing for toll boxes and services, as well as improved integration with existing fleet management systems. Efficient toll management is crucial for controlling operational costs and ensuring compliance for truck fleets traversing the Netherlands.
The launch of the Dutch truck toll system in July 2026 will require all relevant heavy goods vehicles to be equipped with a compatible toll box. The addition of Axxès and tolltickets ensures that the market will have multiple established providers ready to support this transition.
