Bunker procurement platform Seascale Energy, a joint venture between Cargill and Hafnia, has announced a strategic knowledge partnership with Lloyd's Register Advisory (LR Advisory). This collaboration focuses on key areas such as low-carbon fuels, FuelEU Maritime regulations, the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS), and broader IMO decarbonization initiatives. The partnership will also explore the practical commercial implications arising from the maritime energy transition.
As part of the initial phase of this collaboration, LR Advisory recently delivered two specialized training workshops. These sessions were conducted for Seascale's global teams in Geneva and Singapore, focusing on the evolving regulatory landscape and the use of biofuels.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this partnership signals a growing industry focus on understanding and navigating complex decarbonization regulations. As carriers and bunker suppliers like Seascale Energy deepen their expertise in low-carbon fuels and compliance, it could lead to more informed decisions regarding fuel choices, potentially impacting bunker surcharges and the availability of greener shipping options. Forwarders should anticipate continued evolution in regulatory frameworks and associated costs, necessitating a close watch on carrier offerings and fuel strategies.
