A fire broke out on the tanker Marivex while it was positioned off the coast of Oman. All 24 Indian seafarers who were part of the crew were safely evacuated from the vessel. The tanker is known to be operating under international sanctions.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, incidents involving sanctioned vessels can introduce complexities, particularly regarding insurance, salvage operations, and potential delays if cargo was intended for transshipment or further movement. The involvement of a sanctioned entity often complicates standard maritime procedures and can lead to increased scrutiny or operational hurdles for any associated logistics.
