Kazakhstan is actively pursuing a strategy to transform its central geographical location into a key logistics superhub for Eurasia. A core component of this strategy is the significant expansion of its aviation infrastructure, particularly focusing on Sary-Arka International Airport (KGF) in Karagandy. The airport is being developed as a multimodal cargo hub, aiming to capitalize on its position between Europe and Asia.
The development plan for Sary-Arka includes substantial investments to boost cargo capacity and enhance its operational capabilities. This long-term vision, outlined in a 25-year master plan, seeks to integrate existing logistics assets with new infrastructure to facilitate rapid scaling of cargo operations.
For freight forwarders and supply chain managers, this development could offer new routing options and increased capacity for air cargo movements between European and Asian markets, potentially reducing transit times and costs compared to traditional routes. The establishment of a robust multimodal hub in Kazakhstan could also provide greater flexibility in managing supply chains, especially for goods moving across the vast Eurasian landmass.
