Hapag-Lloyd has confirmed its decision to terminate the Central America and Mexico (CCM) container shipping service, with the final voyage scheduled for July 2026. The service presently includes port calls at Lázaro Cárdenas in Mexico, Acajutla in El Salvador, and Corinto in Nicaragua. The MV Chiapas, voyage 686877, is slated to operate the last sailing for this route.
For freight forwarders and shippers, the discontinuation of the CCM service means a reduction in direct shipping options to and from the affected ports in Mexico, El Salvador, and Nicaragua. This may necessitate re-evaluating current routing strategies, potentially leading to increased transit times or reliance on transshipment services through other regional hubs. Forwarders should anticipate adjustments in capacity and potentially higher rates for cargo moving to or from these specific locations, requiring proactive planning to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
