Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) has finalized a 15-year extension for its air cargo handling operations at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). The new agreement, signed with the Airport Authority of Hong Kong, will commence in July 2028 and continue through to 2043. This long-term commitment underscores Hactl's role as a key logistics provider at one of the world's busiest air cargo hubs.
This development occurs as HKIA recently completed a significant infrastructure upgrade, including the addition of a third runway. Such expansions are crucial for increasing airport capacity and supporting future air cargo growth, particularly for a major transshipment point like Hong Kong.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this extension provides long-term stability regarding cargo handling services at HKIA. It signals continued investment in the airport's capabilities, which could lead to improved efficiency and capacity for air cargo movements through Hong Kong. The presence of a stable and experienced handler like Hactl for an extended period helps ensure consistent service levels and operational reliability, which are vital for supply chain planning and execution.
