The RDW, the Dutch vehicle authority, has granted approval to Eurowag, a Czech firm, to operate as a service provider for the Netherlands' truck toll system. From July 1, 2026, truck owners will be able to utilize Eurowag's on-board units (toll boxes) to facilitate payment of the new road usage charge.
This authorization makes Eurowag the sixth European Electronic Toll Service (EETS) provider to be admitted in the Netherlands. The introduction of multiple EETS providers aims to streamline toll collection across different European countries, offering greater flexibility and choice for transport companies.
For freight forwarders and logistics operators, the inclusion of Eurowag as a new EETS provider means increased competition and potentially more favorable terms for toll payment services. It offers an additional option for managing truck tolls in the Netherlands, which could simplify administrative processes for fleets operating internationally. This development supports the broader goal of a more integrated European road transport network, reducing the complexity of cross-border operations.
