ECT is broadening the availability of evening slots for the compulsory safety and access assessment for truck drivers. This initiative, following two successful trial sessions, primarily targets night-shift drivers, offering them additional opportunities to complete the required test at Secure Logistics' facility at Maasvlakte Plaza. The move aims to accommodate drivers who need to access the ECT Delta and Euromax terminals, for which this test is mandatory.
This expansion is a direct response to the earlier announcement by ECT that all truck drivers accessing its Delta and Euromax terminals must pass this safety and access test. By offering more evening appointments, ECT seeks to minimize potential congestion during peak daytime hours and provide greater convenience for the trucking community, particularly those operating during off-peak times.
For freight forwarders and logistics operators, this expansion means improved operational efficiency for their trucking partners. The increased flexibility in testing times should reduce delays associated with drivers needing to complete the mandatory assessment, potentially leading to smoother cargo flows to and from the ECT terminals in Rotterdam. It helps ensure that drivers are compliant with access requirements, avoiding gate rejections or unexpected downtime. This could positively impact schedule reliability and overall supply chain predictability for shipments moving through one of Europe's largest ports.
