A containership, originally ordered before the 2008 global financial crisis, has at last commenced commercial operations. The vessel, named Behram Box, a 917 TEU capacity ship, was delivered and subsequently chartered by Unifeeder, a subsidiary of DP World. This event concludes one of the most protracted unfinished shipbuilding projects in Turkey.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, the delivery of this vessel, while small in capacity, represents a minor addition to the global feeder fleet. It could contribute to slightly improved feeder network reliability or capacity in the regions where Unifeeder operates, potentially easing some pressure on intra-regional routes. However, its individual impact on overall freight rates or major trade lanes is expected to be negligible given its size.
