Transport en Logistiek Nederland (TLN) has issued a recommendation for employers within the Dutch transport and logistics industry to adjust their employee travel expense reimbursements. The organization suggests increasing the tax-free allowance to €0.25 per kilometer, effective July 1, 2026.
This advisory comes in response to the Dutch government's announced intention to raise the maximum untaxed travel allowance in 2026. The current maximum stands at €0.23 per kilometer, and the proposed change would see it increase to €0.25 per kilometer.
For freight forwarders and logistics operations managers, this change primarily impacts operational costs related to employee travel. While the increase is relatively small, it contributes to the overall compensation package for drivers and other staff who use personal vehicles for work-related travel. Forwarders should budget for this adjustment to ensure compliance and maintain competitive employee benefits, especially in a sector facing ongoing labor challenges.
