Oceania Bunkering, a fuel supplier in Mozambique, is substantially increasing its service offerings by introducing ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering. This new service complements existing operations, which now include pipeline deliveries and an expanded truck delivery network. The company will provide these diverse supply options across three Mozambican ports: Beira, Nacala, and Pemba.
The pipeline service leverages existing infrastructure that connects Petromoc's national fuel storage facilities directly to the sea. This allows for a streamlined reverse operation, efficiently moving stored fuel to vessels. The strategic implementation of the pipeline service precedes the launch of barge services, indicating a phased approach to enhancing bunkering capabilities.
For freight forwarders and vessel operators, this expansion means improved flexibility and potentially reduced waiting times for bunkering in Mozambique. The availability of multiple supply methods (STS, pipeline, truck) across several ports can enhance operational efficiency and schedule reliability for vessels transiting the region. Increased competition and supply options may also lead to more stable or competitive bunker prices, which is a critical factor in voyage costing.
