METRANS has finalized a substantial upgrade at its Gądki intermodal terminal, located near Poznań, Poland. This expansion project has led to an almost 80% increase in the terminal's annual handling capacity, which now stands at approximately 590,000 TEU. The primary goal of this development is to enhance operational efficiency and manage the rising volume of intermodal freight moving through the region.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this significant capacity increase at a key Central European hub offers several benefits. It is expected to improve the flow of goods, reduce potential bottlenecks, and enhance the overall reliability of rail-road intermodal services connecting Poland with other European markets. Forwarders can anticipate more consistent scheduling and greater flexibility in routing cargo, particularly for shipments utilizing the growing intermodal network.
