Swiss intermodal transport provider Hupac has announced the reintroduction of its rail service linking La Llagosta, near Barcelona, with Busto Arsizio, located in the Milan region. The reinstated connection will operate with three roundtrips per week, aiming to strengthen intermodal freight options between Spain and Italy.
This service resumption is significant for freight forwarders and shippers, as it provides a direct and regular rail link between two key economic hubs in Southern Europe. The increased frequency offers more consistent capacity for cargo, potentially reducing reliance on road transport for this corridor. Forwarders can leverage this service for improved transit times and a more environmentally friendly option for their clients' supply chains. The reliability of scheduled rail services can also aid in better planning and inventory management, mitigating some of the uncertainties associated with other transport modes.
