The Port of Helsingborg has finalized an agreement with Kalmar for the acquisition of two electric reach stackers. This order also includes the MyKalmar INSIGHT solution, which provides advanced machine inspection capabilities. The new equipment is anticipated to be delivered to the port by the close of the second quarter of 2027.
This investment reflects a growing trend among ports to upgrade their equipment with more environmentally friendly alternatives, aligning with broader sustainability goals within the maritime industry. Electric reach stackers offer reduced emissions and lower operational noise compared to their diesel counterparts.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development at Helsingborg indicates a continued move towards more efficient and greener port operations. While not directly impacting immediate rates or capacity, such infrastructure upgrades contribute to the long-term reliability and environmental profile of a key European port, potentially influencing carrier choices and overall supply chain sustainability efforts in the future.
