Commodities trading group Gunvor has undergone a rebranding, now operating under the name Centalion. Concurrently, the company has declared its intention to shift its corporate headquarters from Cyprus to Singapore. This strategic move, announced on October 2nd, 2026, marks a significant step in the company's evolution, following a management buyout completed in December of the previous year. During this buyout, majority owner Torbjörn Törnqvist divested his entire stake to a group of employees.
According to Centalion Chairman and CEO Gary Pedersen, the new name reflects the company's unified team approach at the core of global energy markets. The relocation to Singapore is intended to position the company more strategically within the Asian energy trading hub.
For freight forwarders and supply chain professionals, this rebranding and relocation could signal potential shifts in Centalion's operational focus or regional priorities. While not directly impacting freight rates or capacity, a move to Singapore could lead to increased trading activity and potentially new logistics requirements in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly concerning bunker fuels and energy-related commodities. Forwarders with a strong presence in Singapore and expertise in energy logistics may find new opportunities.
